In response to the absolute explosion of the filtertron pickup in the past couple years, Schuyler Dean Pickups has unveiled a new pickup called the Sky’Tron. Largely based upon the original Filter’Trons from the ‘50s, these pickups are designed to have a perfect balance of warmth and clarity. Twangy and bright these Sky’Trons are also 100% hum-canceling. Unlike standard Filtertrons that do not fit in standard humbucker routs the Sky’Tron opens up Tele, hollowbody and Les Paul players up to a new world.
These pickups are manufactured using heavy-build formvar wire that is scatterwound to 4.3K in the neck and 5.1K in the bridge for nice round lows, sparkling highs, and slightly scooped mids. Sweet vintage tone can be yours ala Alnico IV magnets that are hand de-gaussed. The Sky’Tron is available in nickel, chrome, and gold covers.
Price: $140 each.
